She glimmered, she glowed and she made us forget.

The groom who had been fidgeting a bit a moment ago, grew still and alert.

The one lady in the audience who had loudly volunteered herself as a replacement bride was now silent – her services no longer needed.

Derrick Ward’s eyes focused on nothing but the vision in white who was making her way in a horse driven carriage closer to the altar … and him.

The cameras went into a clicking frenzy, the flower girls from Verity Dance group took their positions, and the ABS crew got decidedly more animated.

Yet all of this was just background noise and blur as the bride took leave of the carriage and gracefully floated with her "give-away guy" to the altar ... and the groom.

Then they both glimmered, glowed and made us forget.

The grains of sand that had managed to make a refugee camp of a number of ladies footwear – all forgotten. A beach wedding was now seen as the best thing ever. Everyone “oohed”, “aahed” and chuckled (genuinely) at the correct moments.

Marriage Officer Skepple administered the vows along with advice that kept both bride and groom blushing and the audience keen and tittering.

The moment came – the bride was kissed repeatedly per camera-men instructions and time suspended for a while as everyone marvelled at the very handsome couple gracing our shores.

The celebrity couple and R&B singers, Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore, decided to give time another opportunity to suspend. They treated the newly-weds to a surreal rendition that left Derrick speechless and Melissa gushing.

Then it was on to the signing of the marriage certificate (featuring our Minister of Tourism Harold Lovell) and of course a long photo session. They had them posing at the table, at the entrance to the altar, on the beach, in front and behind of a picturesque log, facing the sunset and the newly-weds took it all in stride.

The guests mingled at the refreshments table; some reviewing the ceremony and some commenting on the extremely good looks of the couple.
